INFO.

FAST FACTS.
❥ originally from a quaint suburb, penny secluded herself in the desert after college in order to be closer to nature. the forest was also an option, but she destests the cold, and the beach? she's terrified of hurricanes.
❥ penny does not come from a magical family. her father is a doctor and her mother works remotely as an editor: there's nothing strange or unusual about her white vinyl-sided childhood home.
❥ she taught herself to cook when she was 10. her first recipe was a cheese ball.
❥ her first spell? a love spell under the full moon. she made cookies, intended for her best friend to give to a crush. it worked. they're married. penny boasts it on all of her social media.
❥ favorite romance? twilight. also, sailor moon.
❥ penny prefers making potions and cooking magic to anything else, but she isn't averse to a tarot reading. they're just not as inclined to her people skills.

PERSONALITY.
penny always been secretive, conducting tarot readings in the girls' bathroom at her high school, gifting rose quartz and citrine to her best friends, and her charming way with words earned her the trust of her fellow classmates. penny's interpersonal skills are unrivaled. she has a generosity and a certain way about her that makes her incredibly trustworthy. she's soft, she's warm, she's flattering, and she just wants to help. penny is social, and cheerful, and while she lives alone, wants her favorite people to be surrounded with other worthy people. penny is a connector, so to speak - she loves bringing people together.

and penny has always been surrounded by magic as her most useful tool.

it's internal, mostly: a strong intuition and an unstoppable fascination with all things fantastical contributed to her peculiarities as a child, but an equal passion for romance kept her at odds. disney movies taught her that good girls don't mess with magic if they want true love, but the glut of love spells she could find all over social media told her otherwise. so, ever the visionary, penny cut her own path. she carved herself into something of a scholar, studying grimoires, tarot, palmistry, and herbalism while devouring romance novels. penny is an incredibly quick study: as long as she has directions, she can make it happen. penny knows the rules, she knows the timing, and she knows that special something that will bring everything together - and make the magic truly happen.

she's smart, and she knows it. the downside of this is that she often believes that her way forward is the best - and therefore only true - way forward, and she doesn't take kindly to contradictions, or people questioning her advice. her time is valuable (and as an adult, that's why she charges for it); why would someone waste something of value? even if penny surrounds herself with the sweetest things in life, she isn't afraid to lay down the law. a bad reading won't be sugar-coated, and a bad match won't be applauded: penny is unafraid to tell you what's exactly on her mind.

this does tend to lead to gossip. penny has trouble minding her own business, and if she senses trouble, there's a 110% chance she's going to butt in and get involved. she has the best intentions, of course, but she hasn't quite grasped the talent of letting things play out on their own.

penny is fantastic at reading people. some call it intuition, and others call it great sales technique, but she doesn't need synastry charts to tell if people are compatible. while practicing her craft, penny has become an expert in knowing what people need before they know it - to the detriment of getting to know herself. penny spends all of her time helping others with their problems that she can't quite figure out her own. while she might be an excellent matchmaker, based on intuition, penny's own love life is a mess.

full of bad connections and ghosts of not-quite exes, penny's first reaction to any romantic interest is instantaneous rejection. when she's not throwing all of her energy - to the point of migraines - into her magic-endowed desserts, or potions, or readings, she's buried in romance novels. after all - when you have a healthy client base overlapping with your friend group, who needs an actual partner?

still - she's secluded in her desert cabin. the sun can't always shine. and penny can adorn herself with as much rose quartz and as many handmade charms as she wants. she can eat as many honey-sweetened treats as she can make, but when her clients are settled, who is she left with?
SKILLS.
❥ cooking! penny delights in making sweets for any and all clients who ask for food.
❥ despite marketing herself as a psychic and witch, penny is not clairvoyant, nor does she possess anything that could be described as magical power. she makes potions, collects crystals, practices kitchen magic, can sage the fuck out of your apartment,
❥ she can read tarot, in that she's memorized the meanings. synthesizing that into something a client likes, however, doesn't always happen.
❥ she's a great salesperson, and great at getting people to buy what she's selling.
❥ seriously, though, she makes some raspberry brownies that are lit.
WANTS.
❥ a serial-dater client would be fun! and test her abilities and confidence.
❥ a persistent would-be partner willing to put up with a ton of quirks and rejection. gimme that slow burn.
